I spent a bit of time getting this working with my meter. I had everything graphing beautifully. About a month later, a guy from the electric company knocks on my door and hands me a flyer. They were switching over our neighborhood to smart meters that transmit over the power lines back to the CO. And that day was the end of monitoring my energy usage.

California utilities are required to allow you to opt-out of Smart Meters. If the power company already knows your usage why are they giving away smart meters?
